Shifting Ground CSLA/CELA 2006 Congress
Shifting Ground, the CSLA/CELA 2006 Congress, was a forum for landscape architects, educators and students to share ideas, experiences, knowledge, influences and solutions. The World Planners Congress and the RAIC 2006 Festival of Architecture also took place ahead of the United Nations World Urban Forum (Habitat +30), and provided additional opportunities for Interaction between members of similarly influential disciplines from around the world.

The premise for the wordmark for the conference is that landscape architects create pockets of liveable spaces within our urban environments. So in the midst of the geometric shapes of the letterforms (buildings), we find a twist, a reversed green or white letter which is still readable, yet causes the viewer to pause and take note. It stands out, yet it still fits within its “environment.” The same can be said for the notion that this conference seeks to identify the hidden possibilities and potential of the profession, and to discuss the opportunities to really make a difference in our urban environments and living spaces. To create the “new normal.”

The other component of the branding was an illustration of a cityscape featuring many of Vancouver's landmarks and award-winning landscape architecture projects.

The project scope encompassed complete branding, implementation supervision, promotion, collateral materials, advertising, call for papers, and the conference website.
